John M. Holland, Ph.D. is an embedded practitioner and frequent guest lecturer with the Mount Holyoke Masters of Arts in Teacher Leadership program. Holland dedicated 19 years to serving his community's neediest and youngest school children as a preschool teacher of 3- and 4-year-olds from Richmond, Virginia鈥檚 toughest neighborhoods. Now, John teaches elementary art with a focus on cross curricular content integration. He has led his school to receiving awards as a National PTA School of Excellence (2021) and US Department of Education Green Ribbon School (2022) along with receiving an R.E.B. Award for Teaching Excellence (2019). John supports the M.A.T.L. program with his expertise in teacher-led innovation, coaching for equity, research, education policy, and the foundations of education. He is an adjunct professor with University of Richmond where he teaches courses in the Department of Education and works to transform teaching through 21st century teacher preparation.
